Veering away from dairy products must not limit your menu. Just because butter is omitted doesn’t mean your recipe must not include mashed potatoes. How about shiitake mushroom gravy to top the mash. The uber flavorful mushroom will perfectly go well with your mashed potatoes. You are sure to see someone slurping that last bit of gravy and mashed potatoes from his/her plate! Last week I made stuffed Portobello mushrooms and tomatoes. They sat pretty on my dining table, full of flavor and goodness. Stuff it with rice and nut and top it off with pesto. Stuffed mushrooms are always a winner because the tasty modest devil never disappoints!

Roast your favorite vegetables with dried herbs such as this season’s favorite rosemary and sage. Drizzle them lovingly with excellent ol’ olive oil or top it with a dollop of tofunnaise. Mix and match the food. The viands will sure be savory so place others such as your green beans simple in go. This will even out the flavors in your palate. Try to have complicated and simple dishes so that you’ll have more time to make… desserts!

Lacto-vegetarian desserts! Who said vegans don’t delight in the traditional pumpkin pie or yam pudding? The versatile soymilk can replace cream at any given recipe that calls for it. It will be as creamy and yummy. Let the sweet tooth take over with non-stout and non-dairy desserts. Go gaga over the pumpkin pies, apple pies or sweet potato pudding. Lessen your sugar by substituting half of what the recipe calls for with muscovado sugar or just altogether use muscovado if the affect will not bother you or your eaters. Don’t forget the cornbread muffins with specs of berries peeking through its golden skin. Psyllium will do your muffins and your digestion a lot of excellent. It’ll make any muffin moist and healthier. A few teaspoons will do the trick.

Compose a wonderful harmony with the freshest crisp lettuce, arugula, and tomatoes, green and yellow peppers then scatter corn kernels and slivers of apples. Place out the croutons and sprinkle roasted nuts instead. Drench your garden salad with your favorite tangy lacto-vegetarian dressing.

Lacto-vegetarian meals must not stop you from including other favorite foods. Take benefit of the season’s produce and whip something that you already like. The fresher and crispier your vegetables are the closer you are to the spirit of festivities because it is after all a feast of earth’s wonderful produce. Organic is best of course but if it is not available opt for freshly picked vegetables. Stay away from canned vegetables as much as possible. Canned vegetables are dead on affect and nutrients. Enzymes are lost in the processing thus giving you bland and tasteless dead vegetable.

It is really no excuse not to have a healthful feast because these days vegetarian and lacto-vegetarian recipes are abundantly available. What you will find hard is choosing which ones to try first. So, take on the challenge. Impress your picky diners and be impressed with the variety of lacto-vegetarian dishes. Fill up your plate; eat what you yearn for without the guilt.

What are some healthy vegan meals that are easy to freeze and reheat?

My mom is making it really hard for me to be a lacto-vegetarian (I just started) she’s having me make my own meals, and she’s in the kitchen making her own meals when I need to be too. So I’m thinking that I must make and freeze my own meals ahead of time, and then place them in the microwave when I want to eat. Also, it would be excellent if they were high protein, low carb.

same with me! one staple food i always have in the freeze is a black bean mix. Buy a can of tomato and black beans and mix them with corn, spinach, broccoli, onion, lacto-vegetarian cheese, whatever. They freeze and heat up very well in the microwave and on the stove top. If you have whole wheat tortilla wraps in the fridge they are very excellent with it, low carb too. With veggie dressing they go fantastic. The dish can be eaten alone too!

Also i freeze a lot of tofu and tomato sauce. Its simple, just crumbled tofu with the red sauce. You can place pasta with it, but if your watching carbs you can eat it alone. Its excellent if you add things like tomato, spinach, onion when you take it out.

Cous cous couldnt be more simple to make. You just bring water to a boil, chuck the stuff in, place a lid on, remove from heat and its done in 5 minutes. Breakfast can be a healthful cereal, oatmeal, rice, bisquit, toast, bagel, etc. Lunch, a simple soup and salad or sandwich of tomato, mushroom, sprouts, grilled portabello, etc. Dinner, mac and cheese, bean and cheese tacos, veggie lasagna, pizza, etc. Why do you despise cooking? Maybe try some new methods that interest you. I LOVE to cook. I cook all day long. Buy a rice cooker (wolfgang puck from HSN is fantastic, you can do one pot mac and cheese, cous cous, rice, etc) Simple appliances make it more fun.
