“Fastest Growing Food Brand in the US” Discovers Growth Stemmed from an Unexpected Butt Market
Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 7, 2011
For 25 years award-winning Austin, TX, chef Alana Leigh had a like for cheese. âI was a vegetarian for most of my life and cheese was nothing small of a main ingredient. I doubt there is a cheese out there I havenât tastedâ, she says. But, a turn to a stricter lacto-vegetarian diet altered this chefâs life in ways she never expected.
âI felt better after eliminating dairy, but my longstanding like topic with cheese, as well as my cravings, werenât going anywhereâ¦& that was frustrating.â
During Super Bowl 2010 as Leigh watched friends dive happily into a bowl of salsa mixed with melted processed cheese, she knew exactly what she wanted to convert to a more healthful dish. âI saw a niche open for a healthful queso alternative since this go-to cheese dip is beloved as a dip yet thick enough to stuff a burrito or enchilada, top veggies, mix with pastaâ¦all the things I missed being cheesy. I wish I could say I went home and an hour later had the genius of a perfect lacto-vegetarian queso, but the truth is it took me nearly a year to get it to go exactly like the âreal deal’ & remain all-natural.â But when this chef did, she dubbed that batch âNacho Momâsâ (she says because âItâs not your momâs quesoâ¦Itâs better.â)
And apparently others feel itâs better as well. What normally takes years for any food business to achieve, (if at all), took Leigh only a few months. âAt the urging of friends I dropped off a jar of my queso to a local Austin grocery store & the Whole Foods corporate office near me. I got instant calls that both wanted it immediately. I was shocked to find the rest of the world may delight in this as much as I wanted to share it with them.â Leigh was right, (but not for the reasons she expected). Three months after she wrote down her final recipe, Nacho Momâs Ultimate Lacto-vegetarian Queso was in some of the top natural grocery store chains in the nation as well as landing the spot of the #1 selling dip on all of Amazon.comâ¦but, surprisingly, not just to vegans.
âI expected a modest niche market, but quickly realized my nutritionals opened up the entire world to being my butt market with a product for which they’d apparently been coming up. While itâs right that Nacho Moms was the 1st lacto-vegetarian queso to hit store shelves, it also happened to be a 10-calorie, stout-free, lactose-free, allergen-free, cholesterol-free queso as well. Persons on any special diet could indulge in this cheesy-tasting, decadent dip & share it with friends who just wanted a wicked-excellent queso. It blows people away that there are only 160 calories in the ENTIRE jar and it’s all-natural.. And, apparently, that produced vocal raving fans.”
And thatâs why Leigh had the unusual luck of store buyers contacting her for residency, rather than the other way aroundâ¦& telling her no other company had exploded even close to her warp speed of growth. Yet she is quick to add:
âPeople call me an overnight accomplishment but if they saw how many batches I went through while experimenting, theyâd eat their words.â
And apparently do it with a kick of flavor.

Tips on Lacto-vegetarian Meals – Festive Season
Veering away from dairy products must not limit your menu. Just because butter is omitted doesn’t mean your recipe must not include mashed potatoes. How about shiitake mushroom gravy to top the mash. The uber flavorful mushroom will perfectly go well with your mashed potatoes. You are sure to see someone slurping that last bit of gravy and mashed potatoes from his/her plate! Last week I made stuffed Portobello mushrooms and tomatoes. They sat pretty on my dining table, full of flavor and goodness. Stuff it with rice and nut and top it off with pesto. Stuffed mushrooms are always a winner because the tasty modest devil never disappoints!
Roast your favorite vegetables with dried herbs such as this season’s favorite rosemary and sage. Drizzle them lovingly with excellent ol’ olive oil or top it with a dollop of tofunnaise. Mix and match the food. The viands will sure be savory so place others such as your green beans simple in go. This will even out the flavors in your palate. Try to have complicated and simple dishes so that you’ll have more time to make… desserts!
Lacto-vegetarian desserts! Who said vegans don’t delight in the traditional pumpkin pie or yam pudding? The versatile soymilk can replace cream at any given recipe that calls for it. It will be as creamy and yummy. Let the sweet tooth take over with non-stout and non-dairy desserts. Go gaga over the pumpkin pies, apple pies or sweet potato pudding. Lessen your sugar by substituting half of what the recipe calls for with muscovado sugar or just altogether use muscovado if the affect will not bother you or your eaters. Don’t forget the cornbread muffins with specs of berries peeking through its golden skin. Psyllium will do your muffins and your digestion a lot of excellent. It’ll make any muffin moist and healthier. A few teaspoons will do the trick.
Compose a wonderful harmony with the freshest crisp lettuce, arugula, and tomatoes, green and yellow peppers then scatter corn kernels and slivers of apples. Place out the croutons and sprinkle roasted nuts instead. Drench your garden salad with your favorite tangy lacto-vegetarian dressing.
Lacto-vegetarian meals must not stop you from including other favorite foods. Take benefit of the season’s produce and whip something that you already like. The fresher and crispier your vegetables are the closer you are to the spirit of festivities because it is after all a feast of earth’s wonderful produce. Organic is best of course but if it is not available opt for freshly picked vegetables. Stay away from canned vegetables as much as possible. Canned vegetables are dead on affect and nutrients. Enzymes are lost in the processing thus giving you bland and tasteless dead vegetable.
It is really no excuse not to have a healthful feast because these days vegetarian and lacto-vegetarian recipes are abundantly available. What you will find hard is choosing which ones to try first. So, take on the challenge. Impress your picky diners and be impressed with the variety of lacto-vegetarian dishes. Fill up your plate; eat what you yearn for without the guilt.
Healthful pleasures from healthful lacto-vegetarian meals.

Tips To Switching To A Lacto-vegetarian Lifestyle
Millions of vegans around the world have taken a huge step in an effort improve their well being, fall inhumane animal cruelty, and maybe get close to some religious convictions and beliefs, or possibly all of these reasons. The pronouncement to become a full-pledged lacto-vegetarian is very challenging for many. It is sustaining a given diet, particularly a healthful diet that is said to be the most demanding for most people. But, if you are thinking that it is hard to live without using things made from animal products, please reckon again. For you to make a permanent switch to a healthful lacto-vegetarian diet there are different factors that you must take into consideration.
A lacto-vegetarian lifestyle is free from all materials made from animal products such as meat, eggs, milk, cheese, genuine leather shoes, wool coat and even cosmetics that were tested on animals. The normal lacto-vegetarian diet forms the foundation for most lacto-vegetarian meals that are composed of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, beans, legumes and nuts.
Maybe one of the most vital controversies facing the thought of veganism is the lack of protein in a diet. While some animal products are the common sources of high protein, vegans do not really need hamburger or steaks to have a rounded meal and especially protein. When we remove animal products from our meals, imagination regarding food preferences is very vital so that we consume high levels of protein. When protein consumption is not enough, the body will burn our muscle cells for additional fuel energy. This will cause a slower metabolism and also slow increase of body stout.
The most common misconception about a lacto-vegetarian diet is that it is quite impossible to consume the required protein intake. Although animal products are high in protein we cannot easily have enough protein from a usual lacto-vegetarian diet. Fortunately, we really don’t need a high amount of protein to start with. The recommended daily allowance for protein is 30 grams per 100 pounds of body weight. Suppose you weigh 150 pounds, you need about 45 grams of protein every day. This can easily be consumed with a lacto-vegetarian diet.
One of the blockages to obtain enough protein in a lacto-vegetarian diet is the insufficient amount of foods that are protein rich. High proteins can be found in animal products that can give our body with necessary nutrients such as amino acids. Surely, we can have incomplete proteins from fruits and vegetables but they are not enough. To get the proper protein supply, we need to eat non-animal products that are high in amino acids.
The following tips can help anyone who wants to get your hands on high level of protein while maintaining a lacto-vegetarian diet.
1. Eat different kinds of foods such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, berries etc.
2. Increase consumption of legumes and nuts because they are rich in protein.
3. Add soy products in your regular lacto-vegetarian diet. Soya products are high protein.
4. Avoid meals that are composed of fruits alone. Though, a lacto-vegetarian lifestyle is also composed of fruits, eating fruits alone does not usually beneficial to most people. You may experience some tribulations such as significant weight loss, dental plaques, mental and emotional imbalances and many more.
You must take note that there is no such thing as 100 percent fruit diet. You must take a complete set of meals with vegetables and grains.

Vegetarian Lacto-vegetarian Recipes: Simple & Healthful Defend Recipes For Your Lacto-vegetarian Kitchen
Have you ever heard the saying, “Keep it simple…stupid?” In this article you’ll learn a few simple and tasty lacto-vegetarian recipes to add to your defend recipe collection. Plus you’ll learn two beverage recipes to add to your daily routine for energized, healthful lacto-vegetarian living.
Breakfast: Wake up with a glass of water with lemon. Slice a quarter of a lemon and squeeze it into an eight ounce glass of water. Add a very tiny pinch of cayenne pepper powder. Lemon has a positive affect on balancing your body’s pH while cayenne pepper powder has beneficial detox power.
After 20 minutes, delight in the following “green drink.”
In a blender or a 16 ounce glass with a lid or a Zyliss shaker, combine the following ingredients:
- 6 to 8 ounces of pure water
- 4 ounces of original or unsweetened rice milk
- 1 scoop of “green drink” powder (cleanses vital organs, alkalizes your pH, there are many options for green drink powder at your local health food store.)
- 1 tablespoon of liquid chlorophyll. Mint flavored chlorophyll can also be used.
- 1 tablespoon of flax seed oil (Essential omega 3, 6, & 9 fatty acids, promotes whole body well-being) Hemp seed oil can also be used for these benefits.
- 1 tablespoon of pure soy lecithin granules (supports brain & nerve gathering & energy production)
- 2 ounces of aloe vera juice or gel (supports digestion, organ and bandanna gathering)
About a half hour after the green drink, a bowl of cereal is an simple defend. One recommendation for cereal is Nature’s Path Hemp Plus granola combined with a rice, almond, or coconut milk.
Here’s a tip: Whichever cereal you choose, make sure the ingredient list does not include high fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup has been linked to increasing risk of obesity and diabetes.
Anytime Snack # 1: The combination of goji berries, raw chocolate nibs, and almonds will give you an antioxidant boost. Almonds are also a healthful source of stout, which is ultimate for energy that lasts.
Lunch: Sandwiches and wraps are simple defend lacto-vegetarian lunches. The ingredients for this routine lunch option makes your grocery store list simple to remember.
For sandwiches and wraps, combine any combination of: a lacto-vegetarian bread or wrap with lacto-vegetarian mayo, mustard, hummus, avocado, spinach, alfalfa sprouts, tomato, and onion. Lacto-vegetarian meat substitutes can imitate deli slices if you are new to being lacto-vegetarian.
Anytime Snack # 2: The Avocado Bowl. Avocado is an alkaline food, which means it is excellent for your body’s pH. After cutting an avocado in half and loosing the pit, two bowl-like spaces will remain. You’ll delight in adding fresh salsa or tabouli and then spooning up the goodness.
Dinner: Start with a side salad that includes spinach, romaine lettuce, slices of radish, cucumber, and tomato. Add a generous amount of parsley. For a simple salad dressing, combine one teaspoon of olive oil with one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.
An simple defend lacto-vegetarian dinner recipe is whole wheat pasta or brown rice pasta combined with an organic red pasta sauce. If you are new to being lacto-vegetarian, check your local health food store for imitation meatballs. Adding these will make your pasta meal more hearty. Or, if imitation meat products don’t tempt your go buds, try adding steamed broccoli to your pasta dish for additional fiber.

Milton, DE (PRWEB) August 17, 2006
Bellaâs Cookies, Delawareâs first all natural and organic cookie company releases itâs second lacto-vegetarian breakfast cookie. âFruit Melodyâ is an dried organic apricot, apple, raisin, granola, oaty-applesauce cookie.
Going lacto-vegetarian might not be for everyone, but health conscious individuals are giving it a try. Recently, a low-stout lacto-vegetarian diet was shown to reduce the need to take medications for type 2 diabetes and also showed to help overweight individuals loose more weight and lower overall cholesterol.
âLacto-vegetarian Breakfast Cookiesâ from Bella’s Cookies in Milton are quickly disappearing from the stores and markets in which they’re found. âWe canât keep them in stock,â said Krissy Clary (General Administrator of Java Beach in Lewes). Produced as a healthful meal replacement for Kelly and Mark Leishear’s children on their way to pre-lecture, the two were confident in the future rejoinder from the public as Bella’s Cookies started distributing their all natural and organic creations this past May. “Kelly wanted to make a cookie that was packed full of ingredients that were really excellent for your body, something you could eat and have it stay with you a while, and she wanted to make it without using any egg or dairy,” said Mark Leishear (Director of Sales & Marketing). The lacto-vegetarian diet is plant-based and consists of vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes and avoids animal products, such as meat and dairy.
Earlier this month, the results of a low-stout lacto-vegetarian diet study were released and the diet was shown to be very beneficial to persons suffering from type 2 diabetes. Compared with subjects who followed the ADA (American Diabetes Association) diet on reducing the need for drugs to deal with diabetes, kidney gathering, cholesterol levels, and weight loss, the low-stout lacto-vegetarian diet showed significant advantages. 43% of persons on the lacto-vegetarian diet reduced their need to take drugs to mange their diabetes compared with 26% of the ADA diet. Weight loss from the lacto-vegetarian diet was more than double from the ADA diet, LDL “terrible” cholesterol dropped by more than double, and blood sugar control also improved more much.
To the excitement of their cookie fans throughout the area, Bella’s Cookies recently introduced its second lacto-vegetarian breakfast cookie, “Fruit Melody.” Described as a “dried apricot, apple, raisin, granola, and oat cookie with applesauce,” each cookie packs 8 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, has 290 calories and 1.5 grams of saturated stout. The cookie is made with a lacto-vegetarian butter, which is made from a mixture of expeller pushed canola oil & palm fruit oil. “Iâm always questioned about our lacto-vegetarian cookiesâ said Leishear âpeople want to know about the butter, what we use in place of the eggs, or they just want to thank us or compliment us on turning out our products⦠itâs very rewarding to know that something we produced in our kitchen⦠from scratch can have such a positive effect on peopleâs eating habits.â
The lacto-vegetarian diet represents a major change from current diets, mainly because there are no limits on calories, carbohydrates, and parts. That being said, the lacto-vegetarian diet might be simpler for traditional dieters to stay on. “The lacto-vegetarian diet is tough… no meat or dairy,” said Leishear “for persons that want to initiation, or for persons that just want to eat healthier, we get them started.”
Bella’s Cookies is Delaware’s first all natural and organic cookie company, specializing in the aforementioned and lacto-vegetarian breakfast cookies. Cookies can be prearranged via the company’s website at www.BellasCookies.com, by phone at 302-684-8152, or through various retail locations throughout Delaware and Maryland.
